On Dec. 13, the 22nd annual San Bernard River Christmas Boat Parade and Home Decorating Contest will begin at the FM 521 Bridge and spread Christmas cheer all the way down to High Five Bar and Grill where the judges will be stationed. The boats will be judged in three categories: 17 feet and less than, 17 feet, 1 inch to 24 feet, and more than 24 feet 1 inch. First, second and third plaques will be awarded in each category. The parade will begin at dusk, admission is free.

Resident on the river should show Christmas spirit and decorate your house for the decorating contest. Light it up on Dec. 12 for a photographer to take pictures. The judging will be Dec. 13.

Houses are placed in two categories: less than 100 feet river frontage and more than a 101 feet of river frontage. First-, second- and third-place plaques will be awarded in each category.

Residents can enter their home if they live between FM 521 Bridge and High Five Bar and Grill, which is the parade route.

The winners will be announced at an awards dinner at noon Dec. 14 at the home of Nelson and Vanessa Taylor, 2909 CR 604. Barbecue with all the trimmings will be served for each entry and their decorating crew.

If interested in entering a boat or house, you’re invited to attend a Captain’s meeting at Dido’s Restaurant at 7 p.m. Dec.11 , or for more information call Nelson or Vanessa at (979) 964-4402.
