decorating contest

On Dec. 13, the
22nd annual San Bernard River
Christmas Boat Parade and Home
Decorating Contest will begin at the
FM 521 Bridge and spread Christmas
cheer all the way down to High Five
Bar and Grill where the judges will
be stationed. The boats will be
judged in three categories: 17 feet
and less than, 17 feet, 1 inch to 24
feet, and more than 24 feet 1 inch.
First, second and third plaques will
be awarded in each category. The
parade will begin at dusk, admission
is free.
Resident on the river should show
Christmas spirit and decorate your
house for the decorating contest.
Light it up on Dec. 12 for a
photographer to take pictures. The
judging will be Dec. 13.
Houses are placed in two categories:
less than 100 feet river frontage
and more than a 101 feet of river
frontage. First-, second- and
third-place plaques will be awarded
in each category.
Residents can enter their home if
they live between FM 521 Bridge and
High Five Bar and Grill, which is
the parade route.
The winners will be announced at an
awards dinner at noon Dec. 14 at the
home of Nelson and Vanessa Taylor,
2909 CR 604. Barbecue with all the
trimmings will be served for each
entry and their decorating crew.
If interested in entering a boat or
house, you’re invited to attend a
Captain’s meeting at Dido’s
Restaurant at 7 p.m. Dec.11 , or for

However, if you simply want to sit
back and enjoy the parade with your
friends and family, bring lawn
chairs to one of the following
viewing areas: McNeil boat ramp FM
521; Dido’s Restaurant, High Five
Bar and Grill; the Churchill boat
ramp FM 2611; or the F.O.R.
Community Center where residents can
have their picture taken with Santa.
